Using computer tomography (CT) tiny, highly fragile snails measuring less than 2 mm are described.  In total, there are fourteen species of thorn snails known in North and Central America.

Researchers in Belize believe they’ve discovered a new species of hammerhead shark, based on DNA analysis of the bonnethead shark, a small species of hammerhead found in the United States, Bahamas, Caribbean and Latin America.  Research is supported by the citizen science efforts of Earthwatch.
