A new semi-aquatic anole from the Chimalapas region of eastern Oaxaca and adjacent southeastern Veracruz, Mexico.  The lizard was found sleeping on low vegetation within one metre of a stream, on boulders or logs in or along streams; on boulders, logs, or wet leaf litter; or within boulder crevices near small waterfalls. The type locality is a corridor of closed-canopy forest surrounded by highly disturbed areas.

The Sinharaja Tree Snake is a canopy-dweller known only from the Sinharaja World Heritage Site and its vicinity, in the lowland wet zone of Sri Lanka.  The species is rarely sighted, and may be rare. The first specimen collected was a road kill. The photographed individual was found in the canopy at around 15 m above ground level. The rarity of sightings may be due to a highly arboreal nature in the higher canopy of the lowland wet zone. Probable threats to this species are habitat loss and forest fragmentation through deforestation.

The silver boa is extremely endangered, but easily found the attention of researchers on Conception Island.  One had even come down from the forest and crawled right over one of the researchers as he slept.  Graham Reynolds, who  led a team from Harvard’s Museum of Comparative Zoology to discover the snake, said “We found this species on its way to extinction, and now we have the opportunity to intervene on their behalf so that doesn’t happen.”
