A new species of Salvia (Lamiaceae) has been found growing locally in forest margins and alpine meadows in Shangri-La County in northwestern Yunnan, China, described as Salvia lagochila and referred to S. subgen. Salvia sect. Eurysphace subsect. Perennes, but it differs from other related species by having hastate-triangular leaves and bi-partite upper corolla lip, as well as in the micromorphology and anatomy of nutlets and leaves.
