The newly discovered plant, a wild relative of Rattlesnake- zebra- and peacock plants was discovered by Rodolfo Flores, Panamanian botanist and intern at the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute (STRI).  Flores disocvered the plant in Panama’s Santa Fe National Park.
