A new species of eagle ray, called Blue-banded Eagle Ray  is described based on specimens collected in Northern Austalia and Southern Papua New Guinea, found on soft bottoms at depths of 8-117 m.  The photograph shows the colouration of an adult, in fact, a pregnant female and late-term embryos.
